Room block attrition clauses explained
What attrition means in a hotel group contract, how hotels calculate it, and the published attrition terms of resorts in our catalogue.
What is attrition?
Attrition is the share of contracted room nights you are allowed to release without paying for them. If your contract has an attrition allowance and guests book fewer nights than the remaining commitment, the hotel can charge you for the difference.
How to lower the risk
Negotiate a lower commitment with an option to add rooms, a later review date to reduce the block, and a clause that counts guests who book outside the block. A courtesy block avoids attrition entirely.
Resorts that publish these terms (0)
No resort in the catalogue publishes these terms yet.
